Life is embodied in space and time. These two realities constantly exert constraints on our decisions. Each instant, we are confronted to choices and this, 365 days a year. To these situations we answer: 'yes', 'no', 'maybe', 'later', 'never', 'always'… When we say YES, a door opens while when we say NO, one closes. Some are temporarily so while others are so forever. It is an uninterrupted and perpetual process in this world. We are never done opening and closing doors, saying YES or saying NO. No matter the decision taken, other choices will result from it. These new options will accumulate, elbow and impatiently wait for our next answer. Want it or not, our actions and inertia inevitably end up revealing a YES or a NO. In this perspective, the Interstice 3903™ artistic performance is a physical representation of this decision-making phenomenon: twelve doors, twelve months, twelve decisions, 365 days. Twelve doors with their respective summoning instruments requiring an intervention: telephone, alarm clock, service bell… On a melodious background interpreted with a cello, these instruments are played by members of the public to form a contemporary musical work, representative of our cadenced daily routine.
